Nargis Action Group: most active NGO in Pyapon
Nargis Action Group is the most active organization in the Pyapon region.
Of the five NGOs currently in the Pyapon township – World Vision, Unicef, WFP, ??? and Nargis Action Group – we currently have the most representatives, medics and services. We have 54 of our own volunteers stationed in the area, as well as countless villagers helping out day-to-day. This news comes from the founding member of Myanmar Egress, U Hla Maung Shwe.
We are also the only local organization in the Pyapon area.
This factor has a number of crucial benefits; we have had unrivalled access to the worst-affected areas, allowing for far-reaching aid relief operations, while building up an infrastructure in the region that includes clinics, temporary shelters and mobile medics. The minister in charge of the Pyapon township, Major General Soe Naing, personally visited our office in Pyapon after hearing of our successful relief efforts; he expressed his pleasure that it is a local organization that has the largest hands-on operation in the region. |
