All About Bollywood

Bollywood movies can be traced back to 1913 when Raja Harishchandra made the first Indian silent film 'Dadasaheb Phalke'. Through decades of producing around 200 titles a year the industry grew to produce it's first color film in Hindi 'Kisan Kanya' in 1937 making bollywood history.

Bollywood produced many successful titles but really took off in the 1950's with titles such as Pyassa (1957) and Awaara (1951) these two films became instant bollywood classics and really set the pace for Hindi movies. Bollywood movies are renown world wide for their vibrant color, energetic music and cultural dance scenes. They are in a league all on their own when it comes to putting on a big show and have stormed the western world with vibrancy and beauty.

The latest Bollywood films currently thrilling fans worldwide are titles such as; 'Dulha Mil Gaya' starring Fardeen Khan, 'Shaapit' starring Aditya Narayan, 'Raavan' starring Abhishek Bachchan, 'Mallika' starring Sheena Nayar and 'Dabangg' starring Salman Khan. These latest 2010 Hindi releases are a must see for any fan of bollywood and come highly recommended.

Some bollywood films yet to be released this year should be entered into your fan calendar. There is a much anticipated comedy ' Do Dooni Charr' which stars Rishi Kapoor and is produced by Arindam Chaudhuri which will be released on the 8th of October. A romance title 'Guzaarish' featuring Hrithik Roshan being released on the 19th of November and a thriller titled 'No One Killed Jessica' which star's Vidya Balan to be released on the 10th of December. With many more being released this year, and each one highly anticipated, it is no wonder that bollywood films are booming and the fan base ever growing.

If you have children who you think will love the spectacular sights and sounds of bollywood movies then check out 'Bumm Bumm Bole' starring Darsheel Safary or 'The Camp' starring Sonali Kulkarni. These films are not just great for children but for the parents who are watching it too. They have rich story lines and spectacular visuals which are very prevalent in popular bollywood films.

A lot of people rely on the cliché that bollywood films are too loud and comedic but there are some stunning drama, thriller, romance and action bollywood films, in fact, there are more romance films than comedy! Don't let a stereotype get in the way of a truly beautiful cinematic experience and an amazing cultural journey. Western society dubs bollywood as cliché but in fact it is only the westerners point of focus that is cliché, most Hindi films are moving and serious, they take us on a journey to another world and a different space. Enjoy them as so many millions do.
